Pageant

PRELIMINARY PAGEANTS 
Two preliminary pageants will be held in 2014-2015 to provide local titles to 2015 contestants for the divisions of Miss, Ms, Teen and Junior Teen. Preliminaries are NOT held for Pre Teen and Little Miss divisions.

 Preliminaries are NOT required to participate in the 2015 Miss DC United States Pageant; contestants may also choose direct state entry. Preliminaries are helpful to learn about the pageant process, meet titleholders and contestants, and receive judging feedback. Preliminary entry fees are $150 per contestant, with a limited number of positions allowed per division. A $50 deposit is required to reserve a contestant's position, and the remaining entry fee will be due one week prior to the pageant. Preliminary WINNERS will receive a paid entry to the state contest, and all preliminary contestants will receive a discounted state entry fee. It is our goal that all preliminary contestants gain confidence and experience, and still join us for the state pageant in April 2015.

  • Early application deadline is April 10 for an entry discount

  • Discounts provided to contestants who have already competed in Maryland or Virginia but qualify for DC.

ENTRY FEES
  • Standard fees $350.00 (ages 13-40)

  • After May 1 contestants may be admitted with a late fee on a case by case basis
  • Dual State Entry Fee - If you compete in Virginia or Maryland in 2014 and qualify for the DC pageant (reside, attend school or work within 60 miles of the District), you are eligible for a discount to the DC pageant. Please inquire with the director. 
  • Program Ads - Program book advertisements are NOT required, however they provide the opportunity to alleviate pageant expenses through sponsorships. Ad fee information is available with the official pageant guidebook, or contact the DC director


 CONTEST JUDGED ON:
  • Professional interview, including description of your charitable platform 
  • Evening gown
  • Swimwear
  • On-stage question (finalists)

 DIVISIONS:
Age as of July 31, 2014. If a contestant's birthday falls between May 4 and July 31 and moves the contestant into another division, she has the option to choose either division.
  • Miss (age 20-29)
  • Ms. (age 25-55)
  • Teen (age 16-19)
  • Junior Teen (age 13-15)
  • Pre Teen (age 10-12)
  • Little Miss (age 8-9)

QUALIFICATIONS, all divisions must adhere to these qualifications:
  1. *Is single, never married
  2. Has never posed nude in film or print media.
  3. Is a natural born female.
  4. *Has never given birth.
  5. Is a natural-born citizen of the United States.
  6. Reside, work or attend school within 60 miles of the District of Columbia.
*The Ms. division does allow for women to have given birth, have been married, divorced or separated but candidates must currently be legally single.

PRELIMINARY PAGEANTS
  • Preliminary pageants have concluded for the 2014 pageant season.
  • Preliminaries are not required to participate in the 2014 pageant, but do provide winners with paid entry to the 2014 DC pageant, a local title, sash and crown. There are two scheduled 2014 preliminaries. If you choose not to participate in a preliminary, please enter directly at the state contest level. There is absolutely no advantage provided to a preliminary winner other than paid state entry.
